Ajax - Feyenoord (2-0) |
Dutch Eredivisie, 30 November 2003 |
Stadium : Amsterdam ArenA |
Attendance : 50344 |
When we arrived at the stadium there were a lot of Ajax fans waiting for the 1600 Feijenoord fans to arrive. The Feijenoord fans arrived by train and were guided into the stadium through a special tunnel so both sets of fans were separated at this time already. There was some fireworks and singing and the millitary police was stand-by. It was obvious that the 'Joden' (Jews) didn't like the 'Kakkerlakken' (cockroaches). All this was about 1h20 before the match.
We had some good seats (I guess all seats are good in this modern stadium) and the atmosphere at the start of the match was great.
The 'F-side' showed an enormous Israelien flag and 'Vak 410' had painted a greek god (ajax) on a 60meter flag. When the players entered the pitch the 'Ajax Marsch' was being played and all fans were waving with small flags and there was a kind of confetti. Pretty impressive.
The match started with two fast goals from Ajax which boosted the atmosphere. Especially the first goal of van der Vaart was pure magic. After the two goals the atmosphere didn't get as good as it has been at the start of the match. The last 5 minutes of the match it got better again. The Feijenoord fans had a pretty disappointing day so we didn't hear them too much.
